Docs in Orbit is an artist-led, transnational film podcast that launched in April 2020 with a desire to support the independent filmmaking community by providing a nourishing space for artists to explore the works that move them and fuel their creations.
We offer in-depth conversations paying close attention to the diverse forms present in contemporary non-fiction cinema, the creative process, and the challenges filmmakers encounter as they work with the moving image in their distinct social and political context.
We believe independent filmmakers are a vital cultural force and we seek to build solidarity around their efforts by facilitating exchanges and cross cultural connections.
Since launching, we have collaborated with over 50 artists from our growing transnational community to produce 40 episodes, and have reached top rankings as a TV & Film Interview podcast in over 30 countries.
We offer our content free across several platforms to make it accessible to everyone. We are also deeply invested in remaining ad-free as we explore non-commercial avenues of co-creation. This means we rely upon the gracious support of our contributors, who volunteer their time, attention, and energy to this project, and on the generous support of film festivals that invite our participation.
